Part I of Search of the best (Atlanta Hawks)

Atlanta Hawks Best Player?
This is a new series that I'm starting its the best player from each team and we will cover all 30 NBA teams starting with.

Atlanta Hawks:
The Tri-cities Black Hawks were founded in 1946, 3 whole years before the National Basketball Association (NBA) stared when the NBA formed they when to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and they stayed there for 5 years in that span of time they renamed to the Hawks. After 5 years of little success, they won the 2-overall pick in the draft, which they took Bob Pettit from Louisiana State University, in that next off-season they relocated for the 2nd time to St. Louis, Missouri. In St. Louis they won there alone Championship in 1958 with finals MVP Bob Pettit. They continued to be Okay til Bob Pettit left, they were bad for year after year until one year a notable player dropped in their laps, Pete Maravich.

They had Pete Maravich from the years 1970-1974 till he left for the Jazz and that was a big shoe to fill. This gets us to 1982 with the 3rd overall pick the Jazz picks Dominique Wilkins then trades him to the Hawks he was very good for them leading them to the playoffs series til in 1994 Dominique Wilkins left for the Los Angles Clippers. which they again like they do were bad til in 1996 Dikembe Mutombo was traded to the Hawks and was very good for them and there cause until he left 4-5 years in 2001. This background gets us to the question Who is the BEST Atlanta hawks player of all-time let's go through the options.

        1) Bob Pettit: Played for the Hawks his whole career and was Absolutely Amazing. During the time of Bill Russell and the absolute dominant Boston Celtics, he led his team to eliminate them and take the Championship Trophy from out of there mouths, whall averaging 25 PPG 2 AST 17 TRB and playing 70 games plus Playoff Minute. His Finals Stats for his Career with the Hawks is 26.4 points per game, 16.2 rebounds per game, and 3.0 assist per game (For a Center). His Awards get ready for this, are 11x All-star, 2x Scoring Champion, 1957-1958 NBA Champion, 1954-1955 Rookie of the Year, and Finally 2x NBA MVP. And is in the Naismith Hall of Fame.

        2) "Pistol" Pete Maravich: Pete Maravich was drafted by Atlanta and stay for alone a few years but still made his mark. Pete Maravich played most memorably with the New Orleans / Utah Jazz and that's what most people know him for but now for the stats. Pete Maravich with the Hawks Averaged 24.3 points per game, 5.6 assists per game, and 4.2 rebounds a game. His awards, 5x All-star 4x All-NBA, 1976-1977 NBA Scoring Title, and 1970-1971 Rookie of the year. And is in the Naismith Hall of Fame.

        3) Dominique Wilkins: Dominique Wilkins was drafted by the hawks and spent most of his career with them and being the Hawk's best player the entire time. He is one of few to ever average 30 Points per game but only did it once now to the stats. With the Hawks, he averaged 26.5 points per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 7.0 rebounds per game now for the Awards. 9x All-star, 7x All-NBA 1985-1986 NBA Scoring Title, 1982-1983 Rookie of the year. And is in the Naismith Hall of Fame.

        4) Dikembe Mutombo: Dikembe Mutombo was drafted by the Dever Nuggets and then got traded to the Hawks he is the only person in the conversation that's not been drafted by the Hawks. He was mostly a Defense presence that's why his Stats don't look Crazy on sheet. His stats with the Hawks 12.4 points per game, 12.3 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game, plus 3.3 blocks per game now to the Awards. 8x All-star, 3x All-NBA, 2x Rebound leader, 3x block leader, 6x All-Defensive team, 4x Defensive Player of the year, 1991-1992 Rookie of the year. And is in the Naismith Hall of Fame

Looking at all the players there are two that Really stand out Wilkins and Petitt but since Pettit has won there only championship plus was a Hawk his whole career its, Pettit

Signing off,
